Chickens
Our ChickensThis page has a little information about our chicken's we've hatched and keep as pets. Just before Christmas 2009 we hatched some light sussex chickens. I didnt post much about them during the growing stage, Mostly when they were just cute little fluff balls :-D. Now they are fully grown chickens laying eggs. Out of the 5 chicks we hatched 3 where cockerels and where donated to a local petting zoo. Since then we have got another two Rode Island Red Hens that where from a farm that where selling them. Currently they are laying about 3 to 5 egg's a day! A Few Week ago we decided to get some more egg and hatch some more chickens, So here we are 2nd March 2011, And our chicks hatched this morning. This time we decided to go for a different breed of chicken so we went for the Buff Orpington Chicken. Over the next few days and weeks I will post updates and photo's of the new comers, and of course the webcam on the right of this post. |

So this time we went for the Buff Orpington Chicken, They are named after the town orpington just outside of london, the orpington is a the large foul type of chicken that softs, friendly and which would be good for meat or laying eggs, but we would never eat out pets, only the eggs.
